Welcome to Clay Fables by R. Duncan.

With a Bachelor of Science in Art Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from the University of Idaho, I have cultivated a deep connection with the medium of clay over more than a decade. This extensive experience has allowed me to develop a unique artistic approach that bridges my knowledge of painting with the tactile, three-dimensional world of sculpture.

My creative process involves more than shaping clay; it extends into the realm of color and character through the use of underglaze. Enabling me to add intricate details and vibrant hues that breathe life into the forms I create. By carefully layering and manipulating underglaze, I am able to embody the characters I imagine, infusing each piece with personality and narrative depth.

The tactile experience of working with clay is a journey into creativity and storytelling. The moment the crinkling sound of the trail mix bag fades, the earthy scent of clay fills the air—an aroma as deeply comforting as freshly baked bread. This silky, smooth substance, with its rich texture and pliability, invites the hands to shape and mold, promising a day immersed in artistic exploration.

Clay is not just a medium; it is a gateway to worlds born from imagination, fairy tales, myths, and legends. I use clay to craft narratives that captivate and transport audiences. Each creation tells a story, weaving fantasy and mystery into tangible form
